The FDA has granted 510(k) clearance for the Zepto capsulotomy system from Mynosys Cellular Devices for lens capsulotomy during cataract surgery, according to a press release.The Zepto system, named for the metric unit of measurement 1 million times smaller than femto, can be used through a 2.2-mm incision. Its design allows it to be used in traditional cataract surgery, as well as in challenging cases such as small pupils, zonulopathies, corneal opacities and intumescent cataracts, the release said.
