Novartis net income increases to $2.1 billion in third quarter

Novartis reported a net income of $2.1 billion in the third quarter of 2017, an increase of 10% from 2016’s third quarter net income of $1.95 billion, according to a company press release.
Net sales were reported at $12.4 billion in the quarter compared with $12.1 billion in the same period of 2016.
Alcon net sales grew 7% to $1.5 billion in the quarter compared with $1.4 billion last year.
There was an operating loss of $50 million for Alcon in the quarter, which was equal to 2016’s third quarter operating loss.
