No significant changes in retinal structure and thickness were seen in patients after subretinal implantation of the Alpha IMS.
Researchers analyzed 27 patients who received the Alpha IMS (Retina Implant AG). They used the distance tool of the built-in spectral domain OCT software to measure retinal thickness. Three thickness measurements were made in the four quadrants of the retina on the microchip within 6 weeks and 6 months after implantation, according to the study.
