Swept-source OCT may visualize macula better in early postop period in gas-filled eyes

Swept-source OCT outperformed spectral domain OCT in visualizing the macula in patients with gas-filled eyes in the early postoperative period.
Researchers retrospectively reviewed 61 eyes with idiopathic macular hole or rhegmatogenous retinal detachment treated with pars plana vitrectomy and gas tamponade. Eyes were imaged with SD-OCT and SS-OCT at 1 day, 3 days and 7 days after the procedure.
In eyes with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, good image visualization was noted on day 1 with SD-OCT in 35.3% of eyes and with SS-OCT in 73.5% of eyes using a line scan (Read more...)
