Binkhorst Lecture focuses on choosing the right IOL power

WASHINGTON — Using optical biometry and modern formulas and taking accurate corneal measurements can help a surgeon choose the correct IOL power for a patient, according to a speaker here.
“Use optical biometry, use modern formulae and optimize IOL constants. For corneal measurements, use at least two devices if you can. For the future, I believe that intraoperative measurements will refine IOL power calculation,” said Oliver Findl, MD, MBA, FEBO, who gave the Binkhorst Lecture at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery annual meeting.
