Robotic surgical assistant trial begins for ERM peels

A clinical trial of the Preceyes Surgical System, a robotic surgery assistant, has begun at Rotterdam Eye Hospital for use during epiretinal membrane peels, the company announced in a press release.
The trial will determine if the system can perform parts of the ERM procedure at least as safely as a human surgeon, and if it can perform the peel more precisely and reproducibly, the release said.
