Jerry A. Shields , MD, has received the 2019 Lucien Howe Medal from the American Ophthalmological Society for his distinguished service throughout his career, Wills Eye Hospital announced in a press release.
Shields, who is founder and director emeritus of the Wills Eye Hospital Ocular Oncology Service and professor of ophthalmology at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, has authored more than 1,800 scientific publications, nearly 20 textbooks and presented 1,500 scientific lectures, the release said.
