MILAN — At the ESCRS meeting, Jorge Alió, MD, PhD, presents innovations in the treatment of traumatic aniridia and cataract surgery in eyes with severe corneal opacity.
Due to the Russia-Ukraine war, artificial irises from his usual Russian supplier have become unavailable, and Alió is now using keratopigmentation for traumatic aniridia. And for difficult cases of cataract surgery in eyes with corneal opacity, he suggests a way of operating under endoillumination, thus avoiding corneal transplantation.
