VIDEO: Pegcetacoplan shows reduction in rate of photoreceptor loss

NEW YORK — In this video, Caroline R. Baumal, MD, of New England Eye Center in Boston, discussed a study evaluating the effect of pegcetacoplan and the reduction of photoreceptor loss using artificial intelligence at OSN New York Retina.
Baumal said that pegcetacoplan reduced the rate of photoreceptor and retinal pigment epithelium loss immediately upon injection compared with sham-treated eyes.
“With further imaging studies and artificial intelligence, I hope we can demonstrate how to better treat these patients, preserve their retina and their visual functions,” Baumal said.
