KOLOA, Hawaii — In this Healio Video Perspective from Hawaiian Eye 2023, Mark A. Kontos, MD, compares allowing a patient time to heal vs. enhancing after small incision lenticule extraction.
Kontos described an instance in which a patient had residual corneal edema in one eye after surgery, but by allowing the patient time to recover, he ended up with “excellent” eyesight.
“It’s important to be patient with your SMILE patients and give them a chance to recover and support them during that process,” Kontos said.
