Amniotic membrane superior to bandage contact after CXL

ORLANDO — In this Healio Video Perspective from the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting, Reena Gupta, MD, discusses the use of preserved amniotic membrane in patients after corneal cross-linking.

Gupta and colleagues conducted a retrospective study comparing amniotic membrane to bandage contact lenses in patients who underwent corneal cross-linking. Researchers found that the 46 patients who received amniotic membranes had better outcomes and fewer complications than the 39 patients treated with bandage lenses.
