Eye drop for cataracts to be evaluated in pilot study

ZOC2017217, an eye drop aimed at slowing or reversing the development of cataracts, is undergoing a pilot study ahead of a potential phase 3 trial, according to a press release from Lexitas Pharma Services and Ocusun.
“Today, cataract surgery is the only established treatment for cataracts,” Nevin El-Nimri, OD, senior director of clinical and medical affairs at Lexitas Pharma Services, told Healio. “A successful cataract drop could allow clinicians to intervene earlier in the disease process, potentially improving vision and delaying or reducing the need for surgery.”
