MONTREAL — Pegcetacoplan may help slow visual acuity loss in patients with geographic atrophy, according to a study presented at the American Society of Retina Specialists annual meeting.
“The rationale for this study is that some of the clinical trials were small and had followed patients for a short duration, and therefore, we saw improvements in GA lesion growth rates,” Nimesh Patel, MD, FASRS, told Healio. “However, we weren’t able to determine a visual acuity benefit.”
