Alcon acquires Neurotech Pharmaceuticals

Alcon has acquired Neurotech Pharmaceuticals and Encelto, its macular telangiectasia type 2 therapy, according to a press release.
Alcon paid $550 million in the acquisition of Neurotech and could make contingent payments based on commercial milestones, according to the release.
Encelto (revakinagene taroretcel-lwey) is an encapsulated cell therapy that received FDA approval for the treatment of macular telangiectasia (MacTel) type 2 in March 2025. It is the only FDA-approved treatment for MacTel type 2.
