CDC reinstates disease detectives fired due to ‘glitch’

The Trump administration has reinstated hundreds of CDC staffers who were mistakenly laid off last week due to what an HHS official confirmed to Healio was a “glitch in the system.”
Among the reinstated employees were officers in the CDC’s famed Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS), employees working on the U.S. measles response and the Ebola virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and staffers who run the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, a journal known as “the voice of the CDC,” the official confirmed.
