A new package of ophthalmic tools is being released by DigiSight Technologies (San Francisco, CA) that will allow physicians to keep a close track of the eyesight of their patients. The Paxos platform includes the Paxos Scope that can clip onto most smartphones to offer anterior & posterior segment visualization at up to 56° static field of view. The package also comes with a cloud portal to store patient data, the Paxos Checkup app for patients to use themselves to perform basic checkups, and Paxos Analytics tool that will be available next year to “enable real-time insight on clinical study outcomes with high frequency longitudinal data not previously available,” according to the company.
The Paxos Scope uses technology licensed from Stanford University and features an adjustable light source and a mechanism that allows it to be used with most existing smartphones. It also includes a matching app that offers HIPAA compliant secure storage.
The Paxos Checkup app takes the patient through a series of vision tests the results of which are compiled over time to provide a detailed evaluation of the patient’s eyesight.
The smartphone apps are being made available for both iOS and Android platforms.
