Merger proposal terminated between QLT, Auxilium
After consulting with financial advisors and legal counselors, Auxilium’s board of directors announced that the proposed merger agreement between QLT and Auxilium has been terminated, according to a QLT press release.Auxilium’s board of directors advised QLT it had reviewed an offer from Endo International to acquire all issued and outstanding Auxilium shares and deemed the proposal superior, as permitted under the terms of the June 25, 2014, merger agreement comprising QLT, Auxilium, QLT Holding Corp. and QLT Acquisition Corp.

Mercy Ships promotes World Sight Day
Mercy Ships volunteer medical professionals have provided more than 33,000 free eye operations and more than 222,600 eye consultations since 1978, according to a press release.The organization’s more than 25-year partnership with Alcon has led to the Alcon Eye Fellowship in Africa, where surgeons are trained and return to their communities with improved skill sets in an effort to restore vision to more patients, according to the press release.
