We thank Zhang et al for their comments on our manuscript. Our group feels that it is important to look at the mean difference in axial length (AL) and also consider other key diabetic retinopathy (DR) risk factors, such as HbA1c and duration of diabetes. Our original Tables 2 and 3, displaying multivariate adjusted odds, showed that even though increasing values of AL were associated with a lower risk and severity of DR, these associations were only statistically significant with the fourth (last) quartile of AL (range, 23.89–26.90 mm; mean, (Read more...)
