Speaker outlines characteristics of ideal phakic IOL

NEW ORLEANS — A presenter here at Refractive Surgery Subspecialty Day outlined his criteria for the ideal phakic IOL and discussed a particular implantable Collamer lens that satisfies them. The symposium was co-sponsored by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the International Society of Refractive Surgery. The ideal phakic IOL, according to Alaa El-Danasoury, MD, should have predictability, stability, biocompatibility, preservation of quality of vision, fast recovery, and easy removal or exchange.
