Cook Medical’s New Acrobat 2 Calibrated Tip Wire Guide for Accessing Pancreatic and Bile Ducts

Cook Medical is releasing its new Acrobat 2 calibrated tip wire guide for navigating the pancreatic and bile ducts during cholangio-endoscopic procedures. The device has a 5.8 cm hydrophilic coated flexible tip that helps to move through difficult anatomy, while rotational rigidity allows it to offer a 1:1 “torqueability” for precise control of the tip. Pushability is also improved by about a third compared with the previous model of the Acrobat.

The tip itself has a spring coil design to reduce the impact it has on tissue it encounters, and because it’s made of platinum, it’s well seen under X-ray fluoroscopy. Additional radiopaque tags along the shaft of the device help in identifying its exact position.
