New options coming out for neurotrophic keratitis

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. — In this video from Kiawah Eye & Retina, C. Ellis Wisely, MD, MBA, discusses the success of topical recombinant nerve growth factor drops in the treatment of neurotrophic keratitis.
“I’m excited about other pharmacological therapies coming out on the market, such as more sustained-release similar options in gel or ointment-like forms that may require fewer drops per day and be a little bit less burden on patients in terms of six or eight drops a day. It could be fewer administrations,” Wisely, of Duke Eye Center, said.
